Sadness in a small town

Murder. Just the word alone makes me cringe with fear. But sometimes when you live away from the big city you think you are immune to such things as murder. But as I was hiding in the piano yesterday I overheard Mom talking about the terrible tragedy in a small town near us. A young girl was walking during the day near her home. It was daylight and she felt safe in her community. But someone destroyed that sense of safety. She was just 14 years old. Her life ended, cut short by a senseless act of violence. I heard that she played the violin and was working on a musical number with my mom's student, who plays the piano. They planned to perform in November. And now that musical note will never be heard. Sometimes hiding in the piano and overhearing such sadness is not a great way to spend my day. My sympathies go out to her family.

I know that my life is very sheltered but there is such violence in the world. I listen to the television news and hear all the reports of murders, bombings, and tragedy all over the world. But I feel for everyone of those people who have to live through the aftermath of such an event. Another incident that just occured is the death of a little boy who was murdered by his father, who in turn, took his own life. The reasoning? A custody battle. The father killed his little boy rather than have him live with the mother. Why? I cannot understand why any parent would rather have his child dead than living with another parent. Parents are supposed to protect their children. My real mom(Meow) would have done anything to keep her litter safe. And my adopted mom (DrMom) protects us with her life everyday. So what makes a parent lose that feeling and choose death over sharing.

Well all I can say now is that yesterday was a tragic day but hopefully today will be better. I know Mom teaches violin today to that will be good for a few giggles when Royale starts her act. Perhaps I will try and take some pictures if I can figure out how to use a camera.
Lots of Love
Princess Tia
